THE BEACH

This seaside getaway is located at one of Sydney's best surfing beaches

Bungan Beach is one of Sydney's best-kept secrets. Unlike all the other northern beaches, it has no vehicular access, with Barrenjoey Rd - the main artery to the Peninsula - running along the back rim of the beach. No road in creates a sort of private beach feel for The Bungan Studio - and for several neighbouring properties with their own paths to the beach. Bungan beach is renown for its good surf, so it's not ideal for surfing tragics who must carry their surfboards down the steep public access paths at either end. The jewel in the crown at Bungan is the natural green-water channel in the rocks at the north end, which at low-tide is like a watery playground. Locals who know it well aren't fazed by being sucked out and then swept back in through the channel by the next big wave - or the crabs jumping off the wall as you sloosh through.
